Below is a transcript of Marilynne Davies's handwritten adjudication of our performance at the Choral Celebration Evening.

The Snow
You sing this at a good pace and there was some very pleasing sustained singing. Just take care that the intonation is always secure particularly in the soprano. I enjoyed the way you shaped some of the lovely phrases. Sopranos, be sure that you always support the sound from the tummy and diaphragm so that the upper notes are really resonant. You built up the maestoso well. Try and make the opening to the piu lento a really convincing pp – well focused. A neat well sustained ending.

Quick we have
A pleasing, light rhythmic opening. Take care that the ensemble is absolutely together all the way through. You managed to keep the brightness and rhythmic drive throughout which was very pleasing.

Jephte
A lovely chorus. Just be sure that the chording in this is very precise from top to bottom. Sopranos, keep supporting the sound and take care that the blend within the line is well in place. Watch the chordal progressions that they are well in place and secure notationally. Occasionally you need to think about the blend across the choir and within some of the parts. Some voices were rather obvious. A well managed ending.

Ride the Chariot
A good contrast and you sing with a good sense of the style and with rhythm. Sopranos, try and poise some of those upper notes a little more unanimously within the line. There were moments where the ensemble needs to be a little [illegible]. I wonder whether the choir needs to be grouped more closely together. Right at the end, sopranos, have faith - sing and support!

An enjoyable and varied programme – performed with conviction. Thank you.
